High Tissue TLR5 Expression Predicts Better Outcomes in Colorectal Cancer Patients
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC), the third most common globally, caused 881,000 deaths in 2018. Toll-like receptors (TLRs), primary sensors of pathogen-associated molecular patterns and damage-associated patterns, activate innate adaptive immune systems participate development an inflammatory tumor microenvironment. We aimed to explore prognostic value TLR3, TLR5, TLR7, TLR9 tissue expressions CRC patients. Methods: Using immunohistochemistry, we analyzed microarray samples from 825 patients who underwent surgery between 1982 2002 at Department Surgery, Helsinki University Hospital, Finland. After analyzing a pilot series 205 samples, included only TLR5 TLR7 remainder patient series. evaluated associations expressions, clinicopathologic variables, survival. Kaplan-Meier method, generated survival curves, determining significance using log-rank test. Univariate multivariate analyses relied on Cox proportional hazards model. Results: The 5-year disease-specific was 55.9% among TLR5-negative (95% confidence interval [CI] 50.6–61.2%) 61.9% CI 56.6–67.2%; p = 0.011, test) TLR5-positive In analysis adjusted for age, sex, stage, location, grade, positive immunoexpression (hazard ratio [HR] 0.74; 95% 0.59–0.92; 0.007) served as independent factor. exhibited no across entire cohort (HR 0.97; 0.78–1.20; 0.754) nor subgroup analyses. Conclusions: show first time that high expression associates with better prognosis

High expression of NEDD9 predicts adverse outcomes of colorectal cancer patients.
NEDD9, a member of Crk-associated substrate (CAS) family, is highly expressed in multiple cancer types and involved cancer cell adhesion, migration, invasion. The prognostic value of NEDD9 has not been evaluated before. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between NEDD9 expression and survival in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients. NEDD9 expression was analyzed by immunohistochem...

BACKGROUND PROX1 is a transcription factor involved in the development of various organs. It has also an important function in colorectal cancer progression. The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic role of PROX1 expression in gastric cancer. METHODS We evaluated PROX1 expression in gastric cancer by immunohistochemistry of tumor-tissue microarrays including tumor specimens fro...

Background and Aims: An impairment of expression in MLL2 gene involved in histone methylation induces alteration in the methylation patterns at enhancers and causes several cancers including colon cancer. In this study, MLL2 expression was evaluated in North West of Iran. Materials and Methods: To evaluate the MLL2 expression in patients with colon cancer, 25 tumor samples and 25 samples of tu...
متن کاملHigh KLF4 level in normal tissue predicts poor survival in colorectal cancer patients
BACKGROUND Krüppel-like factor 4 (KLF4) is involved in many important cellular processes such as growth, development, differentiation, proliferation, and apoptosis. The purpose of this study was to determine the significance of KLF4 in both tumors and normal tissues of patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). METHODS Between January 2003 and June 2005, 125 patients with CRC receiving treatment ...
متن کاملStudy of FGF14 gene expression and cancer progression in colorectal cancer tissue samples
Background: Colorectal cancer is one of the main causes of cancer death and the third most common malignant cancer worldwide. FGF14 is a member of the large family of fibroblast growth factors. These factors control a wide range of biological functions, including cell proliferation, survival, migration and differentiation that disturbing their expression can lead to cancer. The purpose of this ...
